World Percussion Movement in Bari, Italy

There’s a new movement in town – or at least in our global village. It’s called the World Percussion Movement. Founded by Filippo Lattanzi, Anna Lisa Pisanu, and Vincenzo Damiani, WPM has at its heart a pure motive: to invest in young percussion talent and bring percussionists together. Fee money will be reinvested into scholarships and prize money for the competitions. Another mission of the festival will be to commission composers for new works.

For a new festival, the lineup of artists is impressive with over ten invited specialists, including Nanae Mimura, Wieland Welzel, Filippo Lattanzi, and Ludwig Albert. In addition to the festival of performances and master classes, there is also a competition component, which has five different categories: vibraphone, marimba, snare drum, percussion, and youth. This year, World Percussion Movement will take place from May 27th to June 2nd in Bari, Italy. The deadline is quickly approaching, so make sure to check it out.
